Is this you?
Supervisors, trainees, and clinic leaders.
Who it's for
This course is for behavior analysts who supervise people, or who are about to. • You supervise RBTs, trainees, or newer clinicians. • You're about to sign your first supervision contract and want to do it right. • You've been supervising for years and you know it's turned into a checkbox. • You run a clinic or a team, and you need supervision that holds up when you're not in the room. If you think supervision means signing hours and saying "great job," this course is going to sting a little. That's the point. Need your 8-hour supervision training before you can start supervising? This course meets the BACB's 8-hour supervision training requirement.
Six things you'll walk away with
The full list of objectives is below.
What you'll learn
By the end of the 8 hours, you'll be able to: 1. State the purpose of supervision to your supervisees and trainees. 2. Describe how supervision supports high-quality services and client progress. 3. Spot the signs of weak supervision and the risks it creates for clients, staff, and your organization. 4. Figure out how many people you can actually supervise well, based on your real time and resources. 5. Verify supervisee certification and supervision requirements, and keep the records an audit will ask for. 6. Build structured supervision: content, formats, schedules, and how you'll evaluate both of you. 7. Set clear expectations for how supervisees respond during and after feedback. 8. Keep the supervisory relationship strong with steady communication and timely review of their work. 9. Run Behavioral Skills Training (instructions, modeling, rehearsal, feedback) and measure real competency and mastery. 10. Help supervisee skills generalize and stick after training ends. 11. Supervise trainees through fieldwork: contracts, appropriate activities, progress checks, and ending supervision the right way. 12. Work through ethical gray areas, and keep your own skills sharp as a supervisor. The full list of objectives, module by module, is in the breakdown below.

Supervision is an intervention.
RAD N BAD.
Why Rad N Bad
Here's the line we keep coming back to: supervision is not an administrative requirement. Supervision is an intervention. If you wouldn't run a client program with fuzzy goals, sloppy implementation, and no data, you can't run supervision that way either. Think like a bass player. Nobody in the crowd is watching the bass player. But if he's off by half a beat, the whole song falls apart. Supervision works the same way. When it's good, nobody notices. When it's bad, everybody feels it: the client, the RBT, the parent, the clinic. Coach it like Little League. You don't teach a nine-year-old to hit by reading him the rulebook from the dugout. You show him. You let him swing. You tell him exactly what to fix, and you cheer when he gets it. That's Behavioral Skills Training, and it's the backbone of Module 6. We do it radically. Here's what that means: • Radical behaviorism. What you do, what you say, and what you think as a supervisor all count as behavior. That includes what your supervisee thinks "supervision" means. • Motivating operations. Supervisee "doesn't care" about feedback? Check what's going on before, around, and after that feedback before you blame the person. • Relational frame theory. People learn what supervision means from how it gets talked about. If "supervision" has always meant "getting in trouble" on your team, every meeting carries that weight. Change how it's framed, and you change the room. • Parsimony. Go with the simplest explanation first. Before you call someone lazy, look at how they were trained. And we don't buy the false choices. It's not "be warm" or "be rigorous." It's not "support your people" or "hold them accountable." It's not "compliance" or "clinical judgment." Good supervision is both, every time. Being precise isn't being harsh. Being precise protects the client, the supervisee, and you. No B***S***. No Tip Toeing. Just Results.
Meet your instructors
Sean Yocum, MA, BCBA, LBA Sean is co-host of the Rad N Bad Podcast and the CEO of Hickory Learning Group, where he's also the ACE Coordinator. He built this course and teaches it with Mike. Sean's a musician at heart (his old band's song took off online all over again), and these days he uses that loud mouth to say the quiet parts of this field out loud. His take: growth doesn't happen in comfort. It happens in friction. Michael Carrero, BCBA, LBA (#1-22-57932) Mike is the Chief Clinical Officer at Hickory Learning Group, Sean's co-host on the Rad N Bad Podcast, and his co-instructor on this course. He served as an Army Drill Sergeant and Army Behavioral Health Specialist, so training people under pressure is nothing new to him. He's a bilingual provider who fights to get quality ABA into rural communities, and he teaches research methods and design to future BCBAs. His rule: break it down, keep it simple, and keep it understandable. Sean and Mike are two working behavior analysts from Hickory Learning Group who are done pretending the field doesn't have problems.
