About the Course
A basic introduction to Acceptance and Commitment Training (ACT) designed to help parents respond to stress and challenging moments with more clarity and intention. This course explores the control trap, defusion, and values-based parenting in simple, practical ways that can be used in everyday life. It is meant to build awareness and flexibility, not to eliminate difficult thoughts or emotions. This is an introductory course and is not intended to be an in-depth or comprehensive ACT training.

Sean Yocum is the CEO of Hickory Learning Group and the Co-Host of the Rad N Bad Podcast. He holds an M.A. and is a Board Certified Behavior Analyst (BCBA). His journey into Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA) is deeply personal, stemming from his experience growing up with an autistic brother. He witnessed firsthand the struggles his family faced when therapy and school provided no lasting change or maintenance of skills in the home environment, due to a lack of guidance for caregivers. This personal reckoning fueled his professional mission to find a "better way". As CEO of Hickory Learning Group, Sean leads the development of innovative learning solutions aimed at empowering individuals and organizations to reach their full potential. The company's vision is rooted in fostering a mindset of lifelong development and smart growth. He founded Hickory Learning Group to challenge outdated models and empower parents as primary agents of change. Through the Rad N Bad Podcast, Sean engages in unfiltered conversations, critical analysis, and directly addresses what's working, what's broken, and what needs to change in ABA. His expertise is a unique blend of hands-on clinical experience, a passion for designing impactful learning systems, and an unwavering commitment to honest, critical evaluation of the field's practices. He is dedicated to redefining parent involvement as essential, building confident parent advocates, and elevating the entire field by pushing for practical, ethical, and truly impactful strategies.
